Every project starts with listening. In your initial consultation, we explore your vision, lifestyle needs, and the challenges of your current garden. You’ll leave with clarity on the next steps, not confusion.

We study your garden’s natural character; soil type, light levels, drainage, and existing features. A topographical survey is also carried out to capture every measurement, giving us an accurate foundation for design.

We also carry out an ecological assessment, which helps in creating a base line for our design work.

Using sketches, mood boards, and digital visuals, we explore creative possibilities together. This stage is about sparking ideas and showing what’s possible, so you can see your garden’s potential before committing to details. We also provide a cost analysis at this stage to make sure the brief, space and budget is aligned.

Collaboration is key. We review your feedback, adjust layouts and fine-tune materials until the design feels perfectly suited to you, your home, and your lifestyle.

Once approved, your garden design is translated into a full specification: scaled drawings, planting mood boards, materials list, and construction details. This ensures your build is smooth, accurate, and stress-free.

At this stage we also provide a quote for Umber to build the work using our in-house team.

Once the quote has been received, we sometimes need to tweak the layout and/or materials either on a cost saving basis or personal preference on style and look of material.

This is the final round of changes, provided with a final quote.

Although, naturally, throughout the process, we will be thinking about the planting; we now turn our attention to providing you with a planting plan - the most important part in our mind!

This process can be quite complex which is why we wait until the layout has been signed off and approved by you. This way, we can be as creative as we want, inserting planting to help both you and the environment.

We then do a final cost submission for your approval.
